This is really important.

Gratitude. Thankfulness. Being aware and present in your blessings.

I have a co-worker. Life has been cruel to her. If I told you all the things she has dealt with your eyes would bug out. But damn if she doesn't come to work everyday in kindness. It's not that she doesn't have sadness, she just chooses every day not to live in it. She lives in what she has, not what she doesn't.

I would like everyone her to make a list of 5 things they are thankful for and share them if you are comfortable. Because being cognizant of what you are thankful for makes dealing with the sadness so much easier.

I will start:

1. I am thankful for my husband. He is so patient with my special brand of crazy and loves me so fiercely it's insane.

2. I am thankful for my children. They are truly two of the kindest people I know and I feel very lucky to be their mom.

3. Being a coach. This unexpected life turn has given my life new meaning and I feel so lucky to get to share in life changes with y'all.

4. Fortitude. The last five years have been unruly but we all survived and continue to do so.

5. Being the big sister. It's so cool to see my younger siblings have babies and grow and be awesome.
